If you want your baby to have the strongest and healthiest smile possible, then it’s important to do all you can to take good care of their teeth and gums. To help you do so, our Bullitt Dental P.L.L.C. dental team encourages you to do the following things:

Use fluoride: Fluoride is a beneficial mineral you can find in natural resources. You can also find fluoride in tap water. So, please expose your baby’s teeth to fluoride by giving them water in their bottle or by mixing their formula with water. This should be enough to strengthen and nourish your baby’s teeth. However, for more details on when to give your baby water and how much to give them, please call your pediatrician.

Clean their smile: Use a little baby’s toothbrush and clean your baby’s little teeth twice a day. You don’t need toothpaste quite yet—just use water. The toothbrush should have soft bristles, a small head, and a long handle. To find out when to introduce toothpaste, call Dr. Robert A. Bell and our dental team.

Be careful with bottle feedings: Baby bottle tooth decay is a common dental issue for many babies. This is because parents fill the bottle with sugary liquids and send it with the child to bed. It’s best to avoid doing this at all costs. Also, try to avoid putting sugary drinks in your child’s bottle as much as possible. It’s best to only have breastmilk, formula, and water in the bottle.
